Bacon and Onion Dip 5 strips bacon 3 cups chopped onions 1/2 cup mayonnaise 1/2 cup sour cream A few dashes of Worcestershire A few dashes of Tabasco Juice of 1/2 lemon Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste Cook bacon in a heavy bottomed pot until crispy then drain on paper towels. Add onions to the pot and cover and cook in the bacon fat, stirring occasionally, until golden brown in color, about 15 minutes. Uncover and cook to a deeper, quite dark golden brown, stirring often. Set aside to cool. Mix mayonnaise and sour cream in a bowl. Stir in cooled onions, Worcestershire, Tabasco, and lemon juice. Crumble bacon and add to the dip. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Chill for about 2 hours and serve. |
