Description

Bang Bang Chicken Sauce brings a zesty kick that turns simple chicken into something spectacular. Creamy, spicy, and totally addictive, this sauce becomes the star of your meal with just a few easy ingredients and minimal prep time.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients:

  • 600 g (21.2 ounces) boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • ½ cup sweet Thai chili sauce

Seasoning and Flavoring Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon tamari
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha
  • 1 teaspoon sweet paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper

Serving Ingredients:

  • Cooked jasmine rice
  • Shredded red cabbage
  • Grated carrot
  • Cucumber ribbons
  • Fresh scallions

Instructions

  1. Whisk the sauce ingredients in a medium bowl, combining 1 cup mayonnaise, ½ cup Thai chili sauce, 1 Tbsp honey, 1 Tbsp lime juice, and 1 Tbsp sriracha. Taste and adjust seasoning for balanced flavor.
  2. Position chicken thighs between parchment paper and gently pound to create uniform thickness. This ensures even cooking.
  3. Mix 1 tsp sweet paprika, 1 tsp onion powder, ¼ tsp black pepper, 1 Tbsp tamari, 1 Tbsp brown sugar, and 1 Tbsp olive oil in a bowl. Coat chicken thoroughly and let marinate for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Heat oven to 220°C (425°F). Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  5. Arrange marinated chicken pieces evenly on prepared sheet. Brush tops generously with ¼ cup reserved sauce.
  6. Bake chicken for 25-30 minutes until internal temperature reaches 74°C (165°F).
  7. For golden caramelization, activate broiler and cook for additional 2-3 minutes. Monitor closely to prevent burning.

Notes

  • Marinate chicken in sauce for at least 30 minutes to enhance flavor penetration and tenderness.
  • For a gluten-free version, swap regular soy sauce with tamari and use cornstarch instead of flour for coating.
  • Adjust spice levels by adding more or less chili sauce, depending on personal heat preference.
  • When frying chicken, maintain oil temperature around 350°F to ensure crispy exterior and juicy interior without burning.
