Description

Bourbon Salmon delivers a mouthwatering punch of smoky-sweet flavor that’ll have your dinner guests asking for seconds. Perfectly glazed fillets caramelize with rich bourbon and brown sugar, creating a restaurant-worthy meal right in your kitchen.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients:

  • 4 salmon fillets
  • ¼ cup bourbon
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar

Flavor Enhancers:

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Seasoning and Cooking:

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Whisk together ¼ cup bourbon, 2 tbsp brown sugar, 2 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp Dijon mustard, 1 tbsp minced garlic, 1 tbsp lemon juice, 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce, and ½ tsp red pepper flakes in a small saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Simmer the glaze for 5-7 minutes at 190°F until it reduces and thickens slightly, then remove from heat.
  3. Preheat your grill or skillet to 400°F with a clean cooking surface.
  4. Drizzle 2 tbsp olive oil over 4 salmon fillets and season each with salt and pepper.
  5. Place salmon skin-side down on the hot surface and cook for 4 minutes.
  6. Flip salmon and cook the opposite side for another 4 minutes until fish becomes opaque.
  7. Brush each fillet generously with prepared bourbon glaze during the final 1-2 minutes of cooking.
  8. Allow glaze to caramelize and create a glossy finish on the salmon.
  9. Transfer salmon to serving plates immediately and garnish with optional fresh herbs or lemon wedges.

Notes

  • Work with salmon at room temperature to ensure even cooking and prevent dryness.
  • Choose a bourbon with a smooth flavor profile that complements the fish without overpowering it.
  • Pat salmon fillets completely dry before seasoning to help achieve a perfect golden-brown sear.
  • When grilling, use a fish spatula to carefully flip the salmon and prevent sticking or breaking apart.
