Description

Dry Rub Chicken Wings bring serious flavor straight to your plate with zero fuss. Crispy, seasoned wings will make your next gathering seriously delicious without complicated prep work.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds chicken wings
  • ⅓ cup all-purpose flour

Seasoning Ingredients:

  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Cooking Ingredients:

  • Cooking oil spray

Instructions

  1. Grab 2 pounds of chicken wings and blot them completely dry using paper towels.
  2. Toss wings in ⅓ cup all-purpose flour inside a large mixing bowl, ensuring each wing gets a light, even coating.
  3. Sprinkle 2 teaspoons brown sugar, 1 teaspoon smoked paprika, 1 teaspoon chili powder, ½ teaspoon garlic powder, ½ teaspoon onion powder over the wings.
  4. Add salt and pepper to taste, then thoroughly mix so every wing gets an even seasoning layer.
  5. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange wings in a single layer without touching each other.
  6. Lightly spray wings with olive oil cooking spray to help them crisp up nicely.
  7. Slide the baking sheet into a preheated 375°F oven and bake for exactly 20 minutes.
  8. Carefully flip each wing and spray again with olive oil cooking spray.
  9. Return wings to the 375°F oven and bake an additional 10 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Check that wing internal temperature reaches 165°F with a meat thermometer before serving.

Notes

  • Experiment with different spice blends to customize the rub and match your flavor preferences.
  • For extra crispy wings, let the seasoned wings sit uncovered in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before cooking to help dry out the skin.
  • Gluten-free diets can swap wheat flour for cornstarch or almond flour to maintain the crispy coating.
  • Check wing doneness with a meat thermometer to guarantee food safety and perfectly cooked meat every time.
