Ingredients
Scale
Main Proteins:
- 0 Chicken (amount depends on recipe)
Liquid Ingredients:
- ¼ cup olive oil
- 3 tablespoons (45 ml) lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) honey
Seasonings and Spices:
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- Salt
- Pepper
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Combine all liquid and dry seasonings in a medium mixing bowl, whisking thoroughly until the marinade looks smooth and completely integrated.
- Select your preferred protein – whether chicken breasts, thighs, or tenders – and transfer them into a large resealable plastic bag or shallow glass container.
- Pour the entire marinade mixture over the chicken, ensuring every piece gets fully coated by gently massaging the liquid across the surface.
- Seal the container and refrigerate for a minimum of 30 minutes, though allowing 2-4 hours will develop deeper, more complex flavor profiles.
- When ready to cook, remove chicken from refrigerator and let it rest at room temperature for 10 minutes to ensure even cooking.
- For grilling, heat outdoor grill to medium-high (375-400°F) and cook chicken 5-7 minutes per side until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- For oven preparation, preheat to 400°F (200°C) and bake chicken for 20-25 minutes, checking temperature with a meat thermometer.
- For stovetop method, heat a cast-iron skillet to medium-high and sear chicken 5-6 minutes per side until golden brown and fully cooked.
- After cooking, allow chicken to rest 5 minutes before slicing to help retain moisture and redistribute internal juices.
Notes
- For a lighter version, swap olive oil with avocado oil to reduce calories and add healthy fats.
- Fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme can elevate the marinade’s flavor complexity and aroma.
- Marinating overnight intensifies the seasoning, but avoid more than 8 hours to prevent meat texture breakdown.
- Always pat chicken dry before cooking to ensure a crispy exterior and perfect golden-brown sear.
