Description

Grilled Citrus Chicken with Glaze turns ordinary weeknight dinners into something special with tangy, zesty flavors that dance across your plate. Marinating tender chicken in a blend of fresh citrus and herbs creates a simple yet delicious meal that brings sunshine to your table.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients:

  • 4 chicken breasts, boneless and skinless

Marinade and Glaze Base:

  • 0.75 cups (180 milliliters) orange juice
  • 0.375 cups (90 milliliters) lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons (30 milliliters) olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons (45 milliliters) honey
  • 1 tablespoon (15 milliliters) brown sugar

Seasonings and Flavor Enhancers:

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon (15 milliliters) Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon (15 milliliters) soy sauce

Instructions

  1. Whisk 60 ml orange juice, 60 ml lemon juice, 30 ml olive oil, 30 ml honey, minced garlic, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl until thoroughly combined.
  2. Transfer 4 chicken breasts to a large zip-top bag and pour marinade over them. Seal and refrigerate for 1-2 hours, flipping occasionally to ensure even coating.
  3. In a small saucepan, combine 60 ml orange juice, 30 ml lemon juice, 30 ml honey, 15 ml Dijon mustard, 15 ml soy sauce, and 15 ml brown sugar.
  4. Simmer glaze ingredients over medium heat for 6-8 minutes, stirring periodically until mixture thickens and reduces slightly.
  5. Preheat grill to 400°F (204°C) and lightly oil grates. Remove chicken from marinade and let sit at room temperature for 10 minutes.
  6. Grill chicken for 6-7 minutes per side, checking for internal temperature and char marks.
  7. During final 2-3 minutes, brush chicken generously with prepared glaze, turning once to caramelize both sides.
  8. Remove chicken when internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Rest for 3-4 minutes before serving to allow juices to redistribute.

Notes

  • Marinate the chicken for at least 2 hours, but overnight yields the best flavor infusion and tenderizes the meat completely.
  • Ensure your grill is preheated to medium-high heat to get those perfect char marks without drying out the chicken.
  • Pat the chicken dry before marinating to help the glaze adhere better and create a more caramelized exterior.
  • For a low-carb option, swap the honey in the glaze with a sugar-free alternative like monk fruit sweetener to keep the dish keto-friendly.
